Lockdown may have given us Tiger King, but right now it's all about Tiger Blonde.
With several festive parties to attend, a never-ending list of Christmas presents to buy and, well, some much-needed rest to be scheduled at *some* point, booking your next hair appointment may not be your top priority right now. But for those who are looking for a little shake-up in the salon this season, may we introduce you to the colour of the moment; Tiger Blonde.
The best news? It'll suit just about anyone, regardless of your natural base colour.
But what colour is Tiger Blonde? It's not as deep as red, it's not as vibrant as ginger and it's not as golden as true copper…
“Tiger Blonde is peach with a punch”, explains Harriet Muldoon, top London colourist - and total blonde expert - at salon to the stars Larry King. “Whether your blonde or brunette, balayage you can add a liquid copper colour to give your hair a vivid finish.”
Blondes who've previously rocked the shade include Rachel McAdams and Emma Roberts - the former of whom [below] was actually the catalyst for my own Tiger Blonde yearning.
Portia Freeman, one of Harriet's personal clients, is another blonde who's taken the Tiger Blonde plunge this season - and we are obsessed.
“This season I'm finding a lot of blondies in particular wanting a longer lasting finish”, Harriet told GLAMOUR UK. “It's less about the summer pastel finish right now and more of a dusty shimmer/eye shadow effect. It's amazing for giving your skin a glow.”
Proving how well the look can work on brunettes, take Kendall Jenner as your prime example.
Known for the natural rich brunette shade which she almost never steers away from, the model has recently dabbled in a little Tiger Blonde action herself. Giving her look a vivid personality, it was a super fun way to change up her well-known aesthetic and inject a little seasonal spice.
But how to get the look? As is usually the case, you'd be better off trusting the professionals with this colour changing moment. You don't want to find yourself tied to a Santa hat as your chosen seasonal accessory to disguise a slightly botched home-dye job…
“Redken Shades EQ hair glosses are the best for liquid colours” Harriet recommends. “A professional hair colour service offered in salons, there’s so many to select from so you can really make your shade bespoke.”
Now we just need to secure that pre-Christmas salon appointment…
